Daria Perrotta

Daria Perrotta, born in Naples on March 2, 1977, is a prominent Italian civil servant who, since August 7, 2024, has served as Ragioniera Generale dello Stato (Chief State Accountant), becoming the first woman to hold this position since the founding of the State General Accounting Office in 1870.

She holds degrees in Political Science from LUISS Guido Carli University and in Law from the University of Urbino Carlo Bo. She also completed a master’s in Applied Econometrics at the School of Economics and Finance and specialized in EU Public Law at the European Public Law Academy in Athens.

Perrotta’s career has largely unfolded within public institutions. From 2000 to 2020, she coordinated the technical and operational activities of the Budget, Treasury, and Planning Committee of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. She has since held several high-profile roles, including Legal Advisor to Minister Maria Elena Boschi during the Renzi government’s constitutional reforms, Head of the Secretariat Office of the Council of Ministers under Prime Minister Conte’s first cabinet, and Economic Affairs Advisor to Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini. Under the Draghi government, she served as Chief of Staff to Undersecretary to the Prime Minister Roberto Garofoli and held the role of Deputy Attorney General at the Lombardy Prosecutor’s Office of the Italian Court of Auditors.

Her appointment as Chief State Accountant was proposed by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti and approved by the Council of Ministers. While some criticism arose due to her not coming from the Bank of Italy or the Court of Auditors, Giorgetti defended the decision, citing her cross-sector expertise and competence.

Beyond her institutional duties, Perrotta chairs the Board of Auditors of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and leads the Strategic Steering Committee of the Fondo Repubblica Digitale, an initiative aimed at promoting digital development in Italy.
