Panteleimon, Bishop of Orekhovo-Zuevo, Vicar to His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry of the Russian Orthodox Church, Rector of St.Tsarevich Dimitry Church of the 1st City Hospital, founder and spiritual father of St. Dimitry Sisterhood of Mercy.
In the 1990s he inspired and set going the social work in Moscow, with his lead one of the first sisterhoods of mercy in contemporary Russia and the only in Moscow Nursing School for sisters of mercy were founded.
In the 2000s charity work under his guidance still more expanded: a volunteering service which at present embraces about 1500 people was set up, other charity projects emerged. Bishop Panteleimon as leader of the Orthodox Aid Service “Mercy” personally organized 24 social projects only in Moscow; among those are the crisis shelter “Home for Mother”, the shelter for lonely disabled and elderly people, 3 orphanages, a visiting nursing service of the children hospice, various projects helping the homeless etc.
Besides, since 2010 bishop Panteleimon has been coordinating all the social activities of the Russian Orthodox Church. He lead the assistance process during the vast forest fires of summer 2010 and during the ruinous floods in Krymsk in 2012. With his participation the first low-threshold warming post for homeless people in Moscow was opened.
