Monsignor Alberto ORTEGA MARTÍN was born in Madrid (Spain) on 14 November 1962.
He was ordained priest on 28 April 1990 for the Archdiocese of Madrid. He holds a Doctorate in Canon Law.
Monsignor ORTEGA MARTÍN began the diplomatic service of the Holy See on 1st July 1997 and he was assigned to the Apostolic Nunciature of Nicaragua. Then he served at the Apostolic Nunciature in South Africa and in Lebanon. From June 2004 he served at the Section for Relations with States of the Vatican Secretariat of State.
The 1st of August 2015 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan e Iraq (elevating him to the dignity of Archbishop).
He was ordained Bishop on 10 October 2015.
Beside Spanish, his native language, he knows: Italian, French and English.
