Orsina Giovanni

Giovanni Orsina (Roma, 1967) es un historiador y politólogo italiano, catedrático de Historia Contemporánea en la LUISS Guido Carli, donde dirige el Departamento de Ciencias Políticas y ha dirigido la School of Government. Tras licenciarse con matrícula de honor en Ciencias Políticas por la LUISS en 1991 —su trabajo de fin de carrera fue galardonado como el mejor del año—, obtuvo el doctorado en Historia de la Italia contemporánea por la Universidad Roma Tre. Ha impartido clases en las universidades de Bolonia, L’Aquila y La Sapienza de Roma, y ha sido investigador visitante y profesor visitante en el St Antony’s College, Sciences Po y la École Normale Supérieure de Cachan. Sus estudios se centran en la historia política europea del siglo XX, el liberalismo, los partidos políticos y las transformaciones de la democracia contemporánea. Entre sus obras más conocidas figuran *El berlusconismo en la historia de Italia* (2013), *La democracia del narcisismo. Breve historia de la antipolítica* (2018) y *Antipolítica* (2021). Columnista de *La Stampa* y de *L’Espresso*, está considerado uno de los intérpretes más autorizados de la historia política italiana contemporánea.

Giovanni Orsina (Rome, 1967) is an Italian historian and political scientist, a full professor of Contemporary History at LUISS Guido Carli, where he heads the Department of Political Science and previously led the School of Government.

After graduating with honours in Political Science from LUISS in 1991 – his thesis was awarded the prize for best thesis of the year – he went on to obtain a PhD in the History of Contemporary Italy from Roma Tre University. He has taught at the Universities of Bologna, L’Aquila and La Sapienza in Rome, and has been a visiting scholar and visiting professor at St Antony’s College, Sciences Po and the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan.

His research focuses on 20th-century European political history, liberalism, political parties and the transformations of contemporary democracy. His best-known works include *Berlusconism in the History of Italy* (2013), *The Democracy of Narcissism: A Brief History of Anti-Politics* (2018) and *Anti-Politics* (2021). A columnist for *La Stampa* and *L’Espresso*, he is regarded as one of the most authoritative interpreters of contemporary Italian political history.
