Nyirumbe Rosemary

Native of Uganda, 60 years old, a Catholic nun of the Catholic order of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, obstetrician, graduate, with a Master in Development Ethics, she has been dedicating for years to helping victims of Lra’s violence, militia who since the 1980s sows death in Central Africa. In particular, Sister Rosemary helped thousands of girls kidnapped by the militiamen, made sex slaves and transformed into baby soldiers.
Sister Rosemary’s battle is about education, work, and redemption through what she can do best and teach her girls how to sew and cook. The results are extraordinary, as she tells in her autobiography Sewing Hope (Dust Jacket Press, 2013) published in Italy by EMI in 2016.
Sister Rosemary was named hero of the year by Cnn in 2007; In 2014 Time has put her among the 100 most influential personalities in the world. She also received the UN Women Impact Award in 2014, the Veritatis Splendor Prize of the Archdiocese of Cracow in 2016 and the Elsa Morante Award 2016.
