Full Professor of Political Economics in Bocconi University of Milan, he also taught in the University Carlos III of Madrid and in Harvard. His papers have been published in several international scientific magazines, among which the American Economic Review and the American Political Science Review. In 2015 he won a “Consolidator Grant” of the European Research Council (ERC), among the most sought-after individual funding for European research.
Italian socialist, fond of politics since the high school times, after a first engagement in the associationism called “socialist diaspora , in 2001 he joined Ds party following the Amato project and between 2003 al 2005 he has been Vice President and then National Director of Libertà Eguale.
In September 2014 he was appointed Financial Advisor of the Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and from January to December 2016 he got the position of Undersecretary of the Prime Minister with mandate for the Public Policies Coordination in the Economic, Social and Scientific research fields.
From May 2017 he is member of the National Secretariat of the Democratic Party and in 2018 Political Elections he has been elected Senator for PD in Lombardia Constituency number 4. He is Member of the Labor Committee.
