Who we are
Minassian Marie-Dominique

Marie-Dominique Minassian is a French theologian and researcher, born in 1969 and residing in Switzerland since 1998. She has dedicated her career to the study of Christian spirituality, with a particular focus on the Tibhirine martyrs and interreligious dialogue. At the University of Fribourg, she leads the research program “Les martyrs d’Algérie” and collaborates with the Chair of Moral Theology.
Minassian has published numerous works exploring the spiritual and theological dimensions of martyrdom and hospitality. Among her most significant publications are “La spiritualité de frère Christophe, moine de Tibhirine”, which reconstructs the biographical and spiritual journey of one of the Trappist monks assassinated in Algeria in 1996, and “Les dix-neuf martyrs d’Algérie. Hospitalité et sainteté de la porte d’à côté”, which analyzes the testimony of the martyrs through the lens of hospitality and everyday holiness.
Her interdisciplinary approach combines theology, anthropology, and history, offering a profound understanding of the texts and experiences of the martyrs. Through her research, Minassian contributes to fostering a culture of peace and coexistence, in alignment with United Nations resolutions.
In addition to her academic work, Minassian is actively involved in spiritual formation and preaching, collaborating with organizations such as the Foyers de Charité. Her work serves as a vital reference for those seeking to deepen their understanding of the spirituality of self-gift, martyrdom, and interreligious dialogue in the contemporary context.
