Antonio Messina is Managing Director and President of Merck Serono S.p.A.
Employed in April 1999 as Director of the Neurological Line, in 2003 he was firstly appointed Country Manager of Greece and then General Manager of Greece and Italy.
Before working for Merck, A. Messina held positions at Bayer and Rhone Poulenc Rorer. In the latter company, he was first Product Manager of Oncology for the UK, and later Marketing Manager of the same line for the Italian unit.
Since 2014 he has been member of the advisory panel for the Farmindustria Presidency.
Messina graduated in Biology at La Sapienza University in Rome and completed his educational path with an MBA degree from the Strategic Executive Program at Babson College in Boston, an Executive Finance course at INSEAD of Milan, and Biopharma Breakthrough 2008 at London Business School.
In 2016, the University of Bari awarded him the Degree Honoris Causa in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology.
