Mennini Antonio

Officer of the Secretariat of State of the Holy See.
Born in Rome in 1947, he studied at the Collegium Capranica and received the presbytery ordination on December 14, 1974 by Cardinal Ugo Poletti. He then attended the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.
On July 8, 2000, Pope John Paul II appointed apostolic nuncio to Bulgaria and elevated to archbishop of Ferento. Episcopal consecration takes place on 12 September 2000 at the hands of Cardinal Angelo Sodano.
On November 6, 2002, he moved as a representative of the Holy See in the Russian Federation, where he performed a well-deserved diplomatic work with the Patriarch of Moscow and with Vladimir Putin’s government, until the connection of bilateral diplomatic relations between Holy See and Russia on 9 December 2009. On July 26, 2008 he also received the post of apostolic nuncio for Uzbekistan.
On December 18, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI nominated him as apostolic nuncio in Great Britain, in particular for the application of motu proprio Anglicanorum coetibus. Since February 2017 he worked for the State Secretariat.
