Leonardi Matilde

Neurological Medical Director at the Scientific Directorate of the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta in Milan, he is Director of the Neurology, Public Health, Disability Operational Unit and is responsible for the Coma Research Centre-CRC Besta. He is responsible for national and international research on the impact of neurological diseases, disorders of consciousness, public health, disability, ageing, chronic diseases, ICF and related tools, social and health policies, international relations with the WHO and the European Union, and contacts with associations of patients and people with disabilities. Director of the Besta Research Branch of the Italian WHO Collaborating Centre. In December 2010 she was appointed, until 2014, Coordinator of the Technical Scientific Committee of the National Observatory on Disability, by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy. She is a Corresponding Member of the Academia Pontificia pro Vita. He is a lecturer in Neuropsychiatry, Public Health, and Disability and Scientific Coordinator of the Disability Manager Postgraduate Course at the Catholic University of Milan and a member of the Board of Directors of the Centre for Bioethics. For years she has been involved in the dissemination in Italy and worldwide of the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and its use to monitor the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and in October 2016 she was elected co-Chair of the WHO World Group on Functioning and Disability and coordinates its work and research.
