Khairallah Mounir

Khairallah Mounir

Born in Lebanon in 1953, Mounir Khairallah has been Eparch of Batroun for the Maronites since 2012. Ordained a priest in 1977, he studied philosophy and theology in Rome and subsequently specialised in pastoral care, catechesis and practical theology in Paris. He has held numerous posts within the Maronite Church, including that of Secretary of the Maronite Patriarchal Synod held from 2003 to 2006, and subsequently Secretary-General of the Synod of Bishops of the Maronite Church.

In his ministry, he has combined pastoral commitment with reflection on the future of Lebanon and the Christian communities of the Middle East. He was an elected member of the Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Eastern Catholic Churches and actively participated in the work of the Synod on Synodality.

From Lebanon, he bears witness to faith, dialogue, reconciliation and peace, pointing to the Land of the Cedars as a place called to be, in its diversity, a ‘message of peace’.
