Griffini Chiara

Dr. Chiara Griffini was appointed in May 2024 by the Italian Episcopal Conference as President of the National Service for the Protection of Minors and Vulnerable Persons.

The position was previously held by the Bishop of Ravenna-Cervia, Mons. Lorenzo Ghizzoni; following a change in the Statute, which had reserved the role for a bishop, it is now possible for a layperson to hold the office.

Originally from Brembio, in the province of Lodi, Griffini is a forensic psychologist and graduated from the Catholic University of Milan. She currently serves as an auxiliary expert for the Juvenile Court Prosecutor’s Office of Milan and for the Ordinary Court Prosecutor’s Offices of Milan and Lodi. She has extensive experience as a trainer in clinical couple therapy. She is also an expert for the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Emilia and holds a licentiate in the psychology of consecrated life and ordained ministry from the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum in Rome.

In December 2023, Pope Francis included her among the consultants of the Dicastery for Laity, Family, and Life.
