Who we are
Giusti Daniele Giovanni

Daniele Giovanni Giusti, MCCJ, has served as Secretary General of the Comboni Missionaries Institute since 2021. Prior to this role, he worked for five years on reorganizing services for elderly and ill missionaries within his Institute, and for six years he also served as General Assistant.
Before taking on these leadership positions, Brother Giusti—who is a medical doctor specialized in infectious diseases and public health—worked for thirty years in Uganda. He began his service as a clinician in Kitgum (northern Uganda – Acholi region) and later became Medical Director of St. Kizito Hospital in Matany, a remote area in the Karamoja district. The hospital, supported by CUAMM, the Italian Cooperation, religious sisters, and other Comboni brothers, expanded significantly under his guidance, with new departments and services as well as enhanced training for local nursing staff.
Thanks to his extensive experience, in 1998 he was appointed Director of the Coordination Office for Catholic Health Services in Uganda, serving the Ugandan Episcopal Conference. Over the eleven years he dedicated to this role—and in collaboration with both AVSI and CUAMM—he helped develop an accreditation system for non-profit health facilities. His sustained dialogue with the Ugandan Ministry of Health contributed to official recognition of the public role played by non-profit health organizations, leading to the implementation of structured public funding support.
