Giovannini Enrico

Enrico Giovannini is a full professor of Economic Statistics and Sustainable Development at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” and a lecturer at the National School of Administration (SNA).

He served as Minister for Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility in the Draghi government and as Minister for Labour and Social Policies in the Letta government. He is co-founder and Scientific Director of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), a network of over 300 civil society organisations created to implement the UN’s 2030 Agenda in Italy. He served as Head of the Statistics Directorate and Chief Statistician at the OECD, and as President of ISTAT.

In October 2014, he was appointed ‘Knight Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic’, and in January 2023 he was awarded an honorary PhD in ‘Sustainable Development and Climate Change’. He is the author of over 130 articles published in national and international journals and of eight books on statistical and economic topics, including I ministri tecnici non esistono (Laterza, 2023).
