Who we are
Gardner Kristen
Kristen Gardner is a nun of the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother and, since 2024, has been the postulator for the cause for the beatification of Clare Crockett. Born in the United States, she shared part of her formation in religious life with Sister Clare and has become one of the leading scholars and popularisers of her life and work. In her role as postulator, she coordinates the collection of testimonies, documents and evidence required for the canonical process aimed at verifying the heroicity of the virtues of the Irish nun.
Among her most significant works is the biography *Sister Clare Crockett: Alone with Christ Alone* (2020), the result of meticulous research into writings, letters, testimonies and documents relating to Sister Clare’s life. The book has helped to raise international awareness of the young nun, who died in the 2016 Ecuador earthquake, and of her witness to the faith.
She also carries out extensive outreach work through conferences, interviews and formation sessions, presenting Sister Clare as an example of conversion, Christian joy and missionary dedication. In January 2025, she took part in the official opening of the cause for beatification in the diocese of Alcalá de Henares, Spain, emphasising that the aim of the process is ‘to give glory to God’ through the study of the life of the candidate for sainthood.
