Fraccia Tommaso

Tommaso Pietro Fraccia graduated with a degree in Physics in 2010 from the University of Milan and obtained a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics and Applied Physics from the same university in February 2014.

He currently holds the position of Junior Research Chair at the Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Institute in Paris, France.
His research focuses on the study of partially ordered phases, typical of lyotropic liquid crystals, obtained in concentrated mixtures of DNA and RNA oligonucleotides and mononucleotides and other molecular species, such as lipids, peptides and polymers, which are relevant to the study of the origin of life on Earth.

He has undertaken several research stays abroad at the Soft Materials Research Centre led by Prof. Noel Clark, University of Colorado at Boulder (USA), and at the Earth Life Science Institute, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo (JP). In 2016, he won the “Daniela Pucci” Award presented by the Italian Liquid Crystals Society (SICL) for the best doctoral thesis on the subject of liquid crystals.
