Dettori Gianluca

Gianluca Dettori is founder, partner and chairman of dPixel, a Venture firm based in Italy specialized in the digital sector, with over 20 investments among which Sardex, Kiver, Seolab, Mangatar, SmartRM, Eco4Could, Viamente, Ciceroos, Cortilia and Iubenda.

Gianluca, 48 years old, has been active in the Internet for 20 years and in Venture Capital business for the last 15 years.

He started his career as sales and marketing manager at Italia Online (Olivetti), then as General Manager of Lycos Bertelsmann he launched the search engine business in Italy. In 1999 Gianluca founded Vitaminic, a global platform for digital music distribution, holding the position of Chief Executive Officer and taking it public to the Nuovo Mercato Stock Exchange (part of the Italian Stock Exchange) in 2000. Following the merger with Buongiorno SpA in 2003, he served as Head of Mergers & Acquisition for the Buongiorno Group and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In the last 10 years, Gianluca has been active as angel investor with over 10 investments in the Internet sector and medical industry (among which im3D, Sitonline, Urbissimo, Banzai and Liquida). He writes about Internet and Venture Capital on his blog http://dgil.uz, in the Italian edition of Wired magazine, for “Il Sole 24 Ore -Nova100 ” and for CheFuturo.

Graduated in Economics at the University of Turin, he founded and was the first president of the IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) in Italy. He is also co-founder of First-Generation Network and a Fulbright mentor. Gianluca is a Kauffman Fellow, member of the Kauffman Society and fellow of the BMW Stiftung Foundation.
