Marco Crepaldi

Marco Crepaldi is a psychologist, public communicator and the founder and president of Hikikomori Italia, the leading Italian association dedicated to the study, prevention and raising of awareness regarding the phenomenon of voluntary social isolation amongst adolescents and young adults. After graduating with a degree in Psychology, he focused his professional and research activities on analysing new forms of youth distress, with particular attention to the effects of cultural, educational and digital transformations on the younger generations.

Since 2017, he has led Hikikomori Italia, promoting support projects for families, training programmes for teachers and educators, and information campaigns aimed at the general public and institutions. He regularly speaks at conferences, schools, universities and on television programmes, helping to raise awareness of the hikikomori phenomenon and issues relating to young people’s mental health. He is the author of essays and popular articles on adolescence, social isolation and the educational challenges of the modern world.
