Capasa Valerio

Born in Taranto in 1977, he teaches literature at the State Scientific High School “Arcangelo Scacchi” in Bari and holds a PhD in Italian Studies. He is married, has two children, and many friends who are better than him. He has written four books of literary criticism (Un’esigenza permanente. He writes about literature, culture, and education for the daily newspaper ilsussidiario.net, and travels across Italy for talks, lectures, readings, workshops, and teacher training. He is a member of the Educational Committee of the Colloqui Fiorentini, collaborates with the National Association of School Principals, and curates the Facebook page “Omero vede benissimo”. He believes that reading is an encounter that brings us face to face with our mystery, and that to truly engage with literature, two things are needed: the author’s words instead of words about the author, and to speak with an author rather than about one.
