Lucio Brunelli

Lucio Brunelli is the director of the media outlets of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI), TV2000 and InBlu Radio.

Born in Rome in 1952, he graduated in Political Science from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a thesis on Giorgio La Pira. In 1983, he began his career as a professional journalist at the international monthly magazine “30Giorni”. In 1994, he produced a programme on Radio Rai, Momenti di pace, which broadcast and provided live commentary on the Pope’s Angelus.
In 1995, he was hired by TG2 as a Vatican correspondent; over the course of twenty years, he covered the daily activities and apostolic journeys of the last three popes, John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis. In 2013, he was awarded the “Giuseppe De Carli” prize for religious journalism. In 2014, he moved to the Italian Church’s television channel.
