Bresci Elena

Full Professor of Agricultural Hydraulics and Hydraulic-Forestry Works at the University of Florence, Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Forestry Sciences and Technologies (DAGRI).
She holds a degree in Hydraulic Engineering and was awarded a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Florence in 1999. She is the Rector’s Representative for Cooperation and Development at the University of Florence and the Representative of the School of Agriculture for the University Prison Centre.
Her main areas of research focus on water harvesting and nature-based solutions (NbS) as strategies for adapting to climate change, as well as the use of non-conventional water sources in agriculture. Her research draws on a variety of methodological approaches, including modelling, experimentation, participatory methods and remote sensing.

She coordinates the Water Harvesting Lab, established in 2017 and active in interdisciplinary research on water harvesting, with a particular focus on arid and semi-arid areas and fragile territories.
She has participated in numerous international projects, both as a coordinator and as a partner, in the Mediterranean region, sub-Saharan Africa and Central and South America, funded by the European Union, the World Bank, the FAO and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
