Primary Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Hospital of Novara, academic and essayist; he was a free lecturer in the Clinic of Nervous and Mental Diseases of the University of Milan. Among his main areas of study are the investigation of depression and schizophrenia, to which he has dedicated numerous scientific essays and publications aimed at a non-specialist public.
In his scientific work he has also dealt with clinical and phenomenological psychiatry, general and special psychopathology, pharmacopsychiatry and community psychiatry, as well as epistemology and methodology in psychiatry.
In 2018 he was awarded the title of Knight of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
