Enrico Borgarello

Enrico Borgarello is Director of Product Innovation at the HeidelbergCement Group.
A graduate in Chemistry from the University of Turin, he was an Associate Researcher at EPFL and the University of Montreal, specialising in applied photocatalysis. After a career spanning almost twenty years at Eni, in 2005 he joined Italcementi (part of the HeidelbergCement Group since 2016) as Director of Research and Development, contributing to the most innovative applications of construction materials.
The research team he led developed, among other things, the transparent concrete for the Italian Pavilion at Expo Shanghai 2010 and the biodynamic concrete for Palazzo Italia at Expo Milano 2015. Among his most significant awards are the Lorgna Prize (1981), the Steinkopff Prize (1997) and the Sapio Prize (2010). He holds 25 patents and has published more than 80 articles in the field of applied colloidal science.
