Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri has been leading the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) since its inception in 2014, the entity that organises the Sharjah International Book Fair and Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival annually. SBA’s flagship initiative, the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone is the world’s first of its kind dedicated exclusively to the publishing and printing business. The Sharjah Libraries and several other cultural initiatives also operate under the SBA.

Under Al Ameri’s leadership, Sharjah International Book Fair has risen to becoming one of the largest book fairs in the world. It is the most prestigious in the Arab world, and continues to grow in reputation and stature every year.

Having gained valuable experience as the Head of Finance and Administrative Affairs at the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, a post he held for over ten years, Al Ameri’s ambitions for the SBA and its high-profile events continue to grow. Al Ameri works tirelessly to promote the Sharjah International Book Fair on the international stage, and is determined to see it become the must-see literary event for all thought leaders in the publishing world.

Having studied at the prestigious Strayer College in Washington DC, United States, Al Ameri holds a AA (Hons) Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He followed this with an Executive Master’s in Business Administration (Perception in Service Quality) from the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates in 2003.
