Battilocchio Alessandro

Born in Rome on 3 May 1977, he holds a degree in Law and Political Science. At the age of 19, he served as Councillor for Culture and Youth Policy for the municipality of Tolfa (RM) and, at the age of 24, from 2001 to 2011, he was Mayor of Tolfa (RM) as the leader of a civic list. In 2004, he was elected to the European Parliament on the ‘United Socialists for Europe’ list, becoming the youngest MEP in Brussels. During his term, he focused in particular on economic development, cooperation, business support, training and education. He was a member of the Socialist Party’s youth wing, participating from the outset in the formation of the New PSI, of which he was also national deputy secretary. He then joined, alongside Gianni De Michelis, the Socialist Constituent Assembly.

In 2014, he joined Forza Italia. In 2019, he was elected coordinator for the Province of Rome and in 2021 was appointed head of the Immigration Department. In 2023, Silvio Berlusconi appointed him head of the national electoral office. In 2024, he was confirmed as coordinator for the Province of Rome in the Chamber of Deputies. Elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 18th legislature (2018–2022) in the single-member constituency of Lazio 2 – Civitavecchia single-member constituency, during his term of office he served as a member of the Committee on EU Policies, the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into activities relating to family-type communities taking in minors (of which he was also secretary) and, from 2021, the Committee on Foreign Affairs. He was re-elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the 19th legislature (2022–2027), representing the single-member constituency of Lazio 1 – Rome, 10th Municipality.

He is a member of the Committee on EU Policies and the Committee on Labour. Since June 2023, he has chaired the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry into safety conditions and the state of urban decay in cities and suburbs.
He has also been the floor leader for the Forza Italia – EPP group since December 2022 and was the lead signatory of the law establishing National Suburbs Day (Law No. 170/2024). In 2008, UNICEF Italy appointed him ‘Defender of the Rights of Children and Adolescents’ and, since 2011, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of IPALMO, the Institute for Relations between Europe, Africa, Latin America and the East. He has promoted international cooperation initiatives in various parts of the world and has led diplomatic and humanitarian delegations to Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Moldova, Pakistan, Myanmar and Western Sahara.
