Francesco Ielpo

Custos of the Holy Land.

Born in Lauria (Potenza) on 18 May 1970, Francesco Ielpo grew up in Buscate, in the province and diocese of Milan.

In the three years prior to his appointment as Custodian, he held – from autumn 2022 – the posts of Delegate of the Custodian of the Holy Land in Italy (based in Rome) and President of the Holy Land Foundation. From 2013, in Milan, he served for several years as Commissioner of the Holy Land for Lombardy and, subsequently, for the whole of northern Italy.

Since 2014, he has been a member of the executive committee of the Pro Terra Sancta Association.
