Youth distress, the lowering of the age at which deviant behavior emerges, the fragility of families, and the strain in relationships between adults and young people are issues that keep returning with great insistence. School dropout, although improving in recent years, and the distance that often remains between the worlds of school and work add disorientation to younger generations. To understand situations of hardship and return to a full appreciation of the talents of every young person, reliable presences are needed, places where young people can return and from which they can start again, meeting authoritative adults who accompany them in their path of growth and personal maturity. Communities that know how to support one another in this fundamental task, renewing a solid and shared pact, for the good of the new generations.
