Who we are
THE HOPE FOR UKRAINE
Yaryna Grusha, professor of Ukrainian Language and Literature, Università degli Studi di Milano, author of L’Album blu (Ed. Bompiani); H.E. Pavlo Honcharuk, Bishop of Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia of the Latins. Introduced by Bernhard Scholz, President of the Meeting for Friendship Amongst Peoples ETS Foundation
War does not destroy only houses: it erodes language, breaks memory, empties the future. Yet from Ukraine voices keep coming that resist this erosion — voices of those who write, of those who pray, of those who remain. Two witnesses in dialogue: a writer who has made the Ukrainian language an instrument of identity and survival, and a bishop who did not leave his diocese on the front line. Together, one question: where does hope come from when everything seems to be collapsing?
