This second appointment is designed to further the dialogue that began last year with the Exhibition on Work and has continued over recent months. The second focus concerns the workplace: a context that often renders the desire to experience work in a new way naive or unrealistic. The dominant imperatives — efficiency, profit, competition — seem to close off any scope for a different kind of human experience. How do we address this conflict without giving up on the desire for a more humane way of working?
