Massimiliano Giansanti

Massimiliano Giansanti is an agricultural entrepreneur and has been President of Confagricoltura since 2017, having been unanimously re-elected in May 2024. Since September 2024, he has also served as President of COPA (Committee of Professional Agricultural Organisations), representing more than 22 million farmers across the European Union.
Based in Rome, he comes from a family of agricultural entrepreneurs. He is President of Agricola Giansanti Srl and Chief Executive Officer of the Di Muzio Agricultural Companies Group, which operates in the provinces of Rome, Viterbo and Parma. The group’s activities include cereal production, kiwifruit, milk and livestock farming, as well as agri-food and agri-energy activities, including the production of energy from photovoltaic plants. In Parma, the companies produce Parmigiano Reggiano, while in Rome they produce cow’s milk supplied to the Centrale del Latte.
He has long been involved in representing the agricultural sector. He has served as President of Confagricoltura Roma, Vice President of Confagricoltura Lazio, and Vice President and member of the National Executive Committee of Confagricoltura. As head of the organisation, he has placed particular emphasis on the competitiveness of agricultural businesses, technological innovation, sustainability, food security and the strategic role of agriculture.
As President of COPA, he is actively engaged with European institutions on the main issues shaping the future of agriculture, including the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, farmers’ incomes, fair competition in international trade, competitiveness and the sustainable transition. In 2026, he has also highlighted the growing geopolitical importance of food security and the need for European agriculture to become more innovative, productive and resilient.
