Mattarella Bernardo Giorgio

He is Full Professor of Administrative Law at the LUISS Guido Carli Department of Law, where he also serves as Director of the Law Degree Program and of the Centro di Ricerche sulle Amministrazioni Pubbliche «Vittorio Bachelet». Born in Palermo in 1968, he earned a Master of Laws from the University of California, Berkeley (1992) and a PhD in Public Law from the Università degli Studi di Firenze (1997).
He has served as research assistant to prominent constitutional judges, including Enzo Cheli (1996), Guido Neppi Modona (1996–1997), and Sabino Cassese (2007–2009). From 2013 to 2014 he was Head of the Legislative Office at the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and from 2014 to 2016 at the Ministry for Simplification and Public Administration.
Winner of the “Giuseppe Mantellini Prize” for State Science awarded by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei (2008), he has spoken at over 600 scientific conferences in Italy and abroad. He is the author of more than 500 scholarly publications on administrative law, European public law, and public governance.
He has received numerous international scholarships, including Erasmus, Fulbright, Chiles Foundation, and European Community COMETT, which enabled him to further his studies in the United States, Paris, and Tübingen.
He is Deputy Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Rivista Trimestrale di Diritto Pubblico and serves on the scientific and editorial boards of other important national and international legal journals, including the Rivista Italiana di Diritto Pubblico Comunitario, the Rivista della Corte dei Conti, and the Gazzetta Amministrativa della Repubblica Italiana.
