ADR AUSTEN IVEREIGH is a British writer and journalist specializing in the Catholic Church and the papacy of Francis, who writes regularly for publications in the UK and the US.
He has a doctorate from Oxford University on the topic of the Church and politics in Argentina, on which he drew on for his authoritative biography of Pope Francis, The Great Reformer: Francis and the Making of a Radical Pope (Picador 2015), which has been translated into 9 languages. (In Italian: Tempo Di Misericordia: Vita di Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Mondadori 2014).
Dr Ivereigh is also co- founder of a Church communications project, Catholic Voices (www.catholicvoices.org.uk), now present in a number of countries. His book How to Defend the Faith Without Raising Your Voice: Civil Responses to Catholic Hot-button Issues (Our Sunday Visitor, 2012 & 2015) has also been translated into many languages.
Between 2000 and 2004 he was deputy editor of The Tablet, after which he worked for a time as public affairs director for the former Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor.
He is currently at work on a new book on the pontificate of Pope Francis, expected to come out next year (2019).
He lives in the UK between Reading and Oxford with his wife Linda and their dogs, traveling regularly to Rome and Latin America. Dr Ivereigh speaks fluent Spanish, as well as Italian, French and Portuguese.
