A psychotherapist, he is a member of the Board of the ‘Società Amici del Pensiero-Sigmund Freud’, founded by Giacomo B. Contri.

He is an ASNOR counsellor and one of the best-known writers for young people. He has published over thirty novels and has received numerous international and national awards, including the Andersen Prize (La signorina Euforbia, San Paolo) and the Bancarellino Prize (Io sono Zero, Castoro); two of his books have been included in the White Raven Catalogue. His novels have been translated into more than ten languages. As a freelance journalist, he writes on educational topics for various national publications and works with many schools, meeting teachers, parents and young people as part of career guidance programmes.

He is a promoter of the National Festival of School Innovation. He is the creator and writer of characters and animated TV series. Since 2019, he has been director of the Flannery O’Connor School of Writing for Young People at the Milan Cultural Centre.
