Anna Ascani

An Italian politician (born in Città di Castello in 1987). After graduating with a degree in Philosophy, she joined the Umbrian regional secretariat of the Democratic Party in 2008 and was elected regional spokesperson for the Umbrian Democrats in 2011. In 2013, 2018 and 2022, she was elected to the Chamber of Deputies as a member of the PD. From 2014 to 2018, she was a member of the Italian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In 2019, she was appointed Vice-President of the PD, a position she held until 2023, and from the same year she served as Deputy Minister for Education, Universities and Research in the second Conte government, until 2020, when she was appointed Deputy Minister for Education in the same government, a position she held until 2021. From that year until 2022, she served as Undersecretary of State for Economic Development in the Draghi government. In 2022, she was elected Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies.
