The Gospel seen through the eyes of minor figures, simple and marginalized figures, players within a deeply felt human dimension, which with laughter and tears, brings us nearer to the mystery of Christ. During the Passover in Jerusalem, while waiting to testify at the trial of Jesus, Bartimaeus, the man who was blind from birth, the Samaritan woman of the five husbands, and wife of Zaccheus, the publican, all meet in the Sanhedrin anteroom. It is a room overseen by a musician guardian, a place of epic and comical tales which draw material from the wealth of popular wisdom and humour. Landscapes and identities, male and female universes in comparison: the glare of the miracle in the eyes of an unaware and amazed humanity. The show – as Giulia Bassi wrote on the Gazzetta di Reggio – is based on three moments linked to the life of Christ, with the dynamic interplay of four figures who testify to a world full of tragedies and failures, re-proposing the full picture of a humanity that is travelling its course, meeting to exchange views and perhaps sustaining itself while continuing to live with a greater hope for having met the Messiah.
