Kimaryo Primus

Primus Kimaryo is a seasoned coffee sector leader, policy advocate, and development professional with extensive experience in transforming Africa’s coffee industry, with a particular focus on Tanzania. He is widely recognized for his work in coffee value chain development, institutional reform, youth engagement, and promotion of sustainable and inclusive growth. He currently serves as Director General of the Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB), where he provides strategic leadership for the regulation, promotion, and transformation of Tanzania’s coffee industry.

At the international level, Primus has held influential leadership roles, including Chairman of the Projects Committee at the International Coffee Organization (ICO) and Chairman of the AFCA Tanzania Chapter. He is also the Founder of the Certificate for Coffee Quality and Trade at Moshi Cooperative University and the Founder of the Kahawa Festival, promoting local coffee consumption and value addition.
Primus holds an MSc in Coffee Economics and Science, an MBA in Marketing, and a BSc in Agriculture and a Coffee Diploma.
