Ignazio Visco

Ignazio Visco is Governor of the Bank of Italy from November 2011, institution in which he joined in 1972. He is a member of the Governing Council and the General Council of the European Central Bank, the Board of Directors of the Bank of International Settlements and the Financial Committee Stability Board. He is Governor for Italy in the World Bank Group and Vice Governor at the International Monetary Fund. From 1997 to 2002 he was Chief Economist and Director of the Economic Department OCSE in Paris. Graduated at the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’, he continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master of Arts degree and a Ph.D. in Economics. Between 1983 and 1989 he was Professor of Economics and Economics at La Sapienza University in Rome. He is the author of numerous publications, including: Price Expectations in Rising Inflation, North Holland, 1984; Saving and the Accumulation of Wealth (with A. Ando and L. Guiso), Cambridge University Press, 1994; The Italian Economy (with L.
