Chiara Locatelli, responsable of Struttura Semplice - Unità Operativa Comfort of perinatal care and assistance of newborn children with congenital malformations IRCCS Policlinico S. Orsola of Bologna, Meeting is not a stranger with this type of care. Speaker and moderator in different editions, brought to the attention of many people her deep value of her perinatal care activities, filled with meaningful encounters as with her little patients so with their parents, and also with her colleagues with who she could share not only medical aspects. The focus is on the human visions that does not succumb to drama of cases that they often have to face.
“In the environment full of high-quality technologies, my maestros had taught me that the firstinstrument that always remains is attention. Observing, assisting step by step the patient,
understanding the signs before intervening. I learned that technology is useful only when it
supports the attention.
“Meeting was a cradle of this sensitivity, and for me it is a very dear place. Since my youth I have been volunteering, in particularly at pre-meeting. Until today it remains the place from which I draw sense of judgment for my life until to become the point of my internal humanity.
From participating at numerous congresses and conventions, Doctor Locatelli could catch the uniqueness of Meeting:”In my opinion, who comes here, visitors or speakers, in the first place have a big question about life. For me,, it meant engaging with people who are willing to deeply question themselves in their search for the meaning of things. Compared to a scientific conference, what makes it interesting is that the voices you hear—despite their authority in their respective fields—always reflect a profound search for meaning in reality and in the issues being addressed”.
For Dr. Locatelli, the Meeting is above all an opportunity to connect. 'First and foremost, it is a place of friendship that makes it possible to build fellowship and peace. Furthermore, it is a place of hope. As a parent who spoke at the panel I moderated this year put it, loneliness and fear prevent people from being free and pursuing the truth. When you are not alone, this fear can be overcome and the truth attained. At the Meeting, this can happen. Supporting it means, above all, keeping alive the possibility that this hope is not just a word, but a concrete experience.'"
