Zevi Tobia

Tobia Zevi has been Councillor for Heritage and Housing Policy for Roma Capitale since 2021, serving on the Executive Committee led by Mayor Roberto Gualtieri. During his term of office, he has promoted the enhancement of public heritage, the right to housing, and the restoration of legality and transparency regarding Rome’s waterfront. Through the “Strategic Plan for the Right to Housing”, he has initiated the expansion and regeneration of the ERP (public housing stock), introduced new housing welfare tools – including the Social Housing Agency and the Housing Observatory – and overseen the gradual phasing out of the CAATs. He is the creator of “Felicittà” – Discovering Rome’s Great Heritage and of “All We Need Is Home”, an international conference aimed at affirming, through a network of European administrators, the role of cities in housing policies.

A graduate in Arts and Philosophy, he holds a PhD in the History of the Italian Language. He has held posts at the Province of Rome, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office. Alongside his institutional career, he has been actively involved in Italian Jewish organisations since his youth: he was president of the Union of Young Italian Jews, founder and president of the “Hans Jonas” Association for Jewish Culture, and a councillor for the Jewish Community of Rome. Finally, since 2019, he has been working on an ad hoc basis with ISPI – the Institute for International Political Studies – as head of the Global Cities programme
