Who we are
Mearelli Carlo

Carlo Mearelli is a long-standing manager of international standing in the transport, logistics and strategic infrastructure sectors. With a solid career spent in senior roles in both the public and private sectors, he is one of the leading figures in the field of supply chain and mobility governance at a continental level. He currently holds the position of Managing Director at The Advisory Lab LLC, a boutique management and strategic consultancy specialising in the development of complex projects relating to connectivity networks, new sustainable models of intermodality and the internationalisation of businesses within the logistics supply chain.
The roots of his in-depth expertise in the aviation sector lie in an exemplary career built on merit: he progressed entirely through the ranks, starting initially in an operational role as a flight attendant before rising, in the 1990s, to the prestigious position of Executive Assistant to the Chairman of Alitalia (Head of the Chairman’s Staff). During the same decade, he built up solid experience in institutional and legislative affairs, serving as Head of the Secretariat to the Chair of the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on Transport, Posts and Telecommunications during the 13th Parliament. This combination of operational expertise and political and institutional acumen served as the driving force behind a wide-ranging managerial career on a global scale, characterised by appointments as Chief Executive Officer in foreign companies operating in complex and strategic markets across the Middle East and Africa.
He has also led major trade associations and sectoral institutions, combining his industrial activities with a deep commitment to relevant scientific committees. He was a member of the Board of the “Gino Marchet” Contract Logistics Observatory at the Politecnico di Milano, a centre of excellence for the analysis and innovation of third-party logistics in Italy. He served as President of FICT (European Federation of Transport Managers) within the CEC (Confédération Européenne des Cadres), where he represented the interests of mobility leaders in the European social dialogue. In Italy, he twice chaired Assologistica, the national association of third-party logistics companies, promoting sector cohesion, infrastructure innovation and the upholding of legal standards throughout the supply chain. At a global level, he led the IFWLA (International Federation of Warehousing and Logistics Associations), whilst in the Italian industrial sector he held, amongst other roles, the position of Chief Executive Officer of Malpensa Logistica Europa and Argol Air Logistics SpA, and Head of Strategy and Development at Argol SpA.
His strategic focus is now strongly oriented towards digitalisation and the integration of Artificial Intelligence systems into industrial decision-making processes, with a particular emphasis on the development of advanced intermodality as the cornerstone for maximising the efficiency of the global logistics chain. Through a vision that fosters synergy between different modes of transport, Mearelli plays an active role in institutional dialogue, combining managerial expertise with public writing to contribute to the public and specialist debate on the modernisation of infrastructure hubs and freight mobility.
In terms of honours and affiliations, Carlo Mearelli has been awarded the title of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and is registered with the Order of Journalists on the list of freelance journalists. He holds a PhD in Air Transport Sciences and Technologies, having completed his academic and postgraduate studies at the IULM Free University of Languages and Communication. His expertise in the aeronautical sector dates back to his youth, when he attended the ‘F. De Pinedo’ Technical Aeronautical Institute in Rome.
