Matteo Bussola

Matteo Bussola (Verona, 1971) is a writer, comic-book artist and radio presenter. After graduating in Architecture from the IUAV in Venice, he initially worked as a building designer before turning his hand to illustration and fiction. He made his debut in the world of comics by collaborating with Italian and French publishers, and in 2011, together with Paola Barbato, he created the webcomic Davvero. He has been working with Sergio Bonelli Editore since 2012.

In 2016, he published his first book, Notti in bianco, baci a colazione (Einaudi), which became an international bestseller. This was followed by numerous titles spanning fiction and picture books, including Sono puri i loro sogni (2017), La vita fino a te (2018), L’invenzione di noi due (2020), Il rosmarino non capisce l’inverno (2022), Un buon posto in cui fermarsi (2023), La neve in fondo al mare (2024) and La luce degli incendi a dicembre (2025). In 2026, he continued his fiction writing with new publications exploring the themes of relationships, coming of age and adolescence.

He is also the author of children’s books and graphic novels, including Viola and the Blue and Mezzamela. He contributes to la Repubblica (Robinson) and presents the programme I Padrieterni on Radio 24.

His work explores fragility, family ties and personal growth in the modern world.
