Gianna Elisa Berlingerio

Gianna Elisa Berlingerio, a mother of three, has been Director of the Department of Economic Development for the Puglia Region since May 2021, having previously headed two of the department’s eight sections.
The Department is responsible for providing support to businesses for capital investment, research and development, internationalisation (including interregional territorial cooperation) and process and product innovation. It also deals with industrial infrastructure and business crises. The picture is completed by initiatives on energy and youth policies.
In this demanding role, she draws on the experience gained in Bari and Brussels as a lawyer, primarily in the field of administrative law, as well as the expertise acquired through her specialisation in the law and economics of the European Communities and her PhD in Public Economic Law.
She has a deep-seated love for her homeland and acts without any pretence of appearing objective or impartial in national and international contexts.
