Chattat Rabih

Rabih Chattat is Full Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Bologna, where he teaches and conducts research in the fields of gerontological psychology and the clinical psychology of ageing. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1989 and specialised in Medical Psychology in 1992, both at the University of Bologna, and obtained a PhD in Psychology in 1997. His academic career is marked by an in-depth focus on the psychological processes related to ageing and the care of older adults, with particular attention to psychological interventions for people with dementia and for their caregivers.
Chattat is the author of numerous studies and research works in gerontological psychology, especially on the effectiveness of psychosocial interventions in dementia, and has collaborated with various international research groups. He is a member of the steering committee of the InterDem network, an important pan-European network of researchers working on psychosocial interventions in dementia. He has participated in many research projects and has also made a significant contribution at national level, collaborating with associations and institutions related to geriatrics and psychogeriatrics.
In addition to his research activity, he has held important institutional roles within the University of Bologna, such as the Rector’s delegate for students with disabilities from 2011 to 2021. He has also served as coordinator of the Master’s Degree Programme in Clinical Psychology, contributing to the education and training of new professionals in the field of psychology.
