Takashi Paolo Nagai is a medical radiologist in Nagasaki before and after the tragedy of that Atomic Bomb that destroyed parts of the city A city that has 400 years of Christianity , it is rich in faith, saints and martyrs. Through a personal journey and a sought-after poverty of spirit, Nagai discovers a sacred meaning in this holocaust so he became an admissible Announcement of hope and peace, helps his people to rediscover the beauty of life and therefore to rebuild.
The exhibition offers the visitor the opportunity to retrace his life, questioning himself on his own. Nagai was born in the millenary Japanese Shintoist and Buddhist tradition, but after studying medicine positivism was the only way possible for him until his dying mother opened her eyes makes him realize what part of us doesn’t die. As he was a true scientist he wants to find the answer. He decided to stay with one of the Christian families from the church he didn’t like. Then he gets to know in flesh the traditions of the Christians evangelized in the 17th century by the Jesuits, then had to live hidden and without priests for more than 2 centuries or died martyrs An incredible person of this tradition, Midori, becomes the companion of his life and his faith, accompanying him to become a new man after baptism. The wars, and even the tragedy of the Atomic are looked at with a completely different point of view by those who now know that God knows how to bring out good even from evil.
