The mission of Rome in history

Co-ordinator Martino Feyles and University of Clu, Rome
Rome’s destiny seems marked since its origin. A destiny of greatness. Rome is the eternal city destined to unify the world in a universal empire, to spread civilization and culture, laws and administration, language and art. But the empire will spread something well greater than itself: it will be the mean through which the world will know Christianity. Pursuing its greatness Rome is the unaware instrument of Providence that drives history. But what did Rome obtain in change from Christianity? All the great cities of the ancient world died one after the other while Rome remained, and it still remains. Capital of the empire in the past and now centre of Christianity .
