Valmaggi Marina

Marina Valmaggi is a musician, author and a key figure in the musical history of Gioventù Studentesca and Comunione e Liberazione in Rimini. In 1962, whilst still very young, she met the young people from Gioventù Studentesca who had come from Milan to Rimini; an encounter that would profoundly shape her life and her relationship with music and faith. Since 1965, she has conducted the Gioventù Studentesca choir, contributing to the birth and development of a musical tradition that would accompany the life of the Rimini community for decades.
Over the years, she has been intensely active as a singer, musician, author and curator of musical projects, ranging from sacred music to folk traditions and Latin American music. She has collaborated on the creation of shows and musical productions.
She is the author of the book E si cantava. Storia di un incontro e della musica che lo ha accompagnato (And They Sang: The Story of an Encounter and the Music That Accompanied It), published in 2022, in which she traces, through the songs and stories of the community, the history of the encounter that gave rise to the Gioventù Studentesca movement in Rimini and the role that music played in the lives of that generation.
In recent years, she has continued to devote herself to music and cultural outreach, taking part in concerts, events and initiatives linked to the city’s musical and religious traditions. In 2026, she continued her musical career with new releases, including Camminerò verso la fonte (Acoustic).
