Vorob’ev Vladimir

Archpriest Vladimir Vorobev, rector of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University (PSTGU), Head of the Department of Modern History of the Russian Orthodox Church at PSTGU, Doctor Honoris Causa of the Orthodox theology at St. Sergius Institute in Paris, PhD. Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Rector of St. Nicholas Church in Moscow, a member of the Synodal Commission for the canonization of Saints, a member of the scientific editorial board for the publication of “Orthodox Encyclopedia”, President of the Orthodox Theological Society.
In 1990 father Vladimir became one of the organizers of the Theological-catechetical courses and after their reorganization in Theological Institute in 1992 – the Rector of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Institute (PSTBI). In June 1998, the Institute received state accreditation and in May 2004 – the state university status and a new name: St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University for the Humanities (PSTGU).
Under the leadership of Fr. Vladimir a state educational standard for confessional theology was developed by PSTBI and became the basis for the specialty “theology” in the state qualifier and a platform for the creation of about 50 theological faculties and departments in public and private universities.
Archpriest Vladimir Vorobev has more than 120 publications on church history, liturgical tradition, pastoral theology, religious education on various aspects of church life.
