SAINT THÉRÈSE OF LISIEUX. WOMAN, INTELLECTUAL, RESEARCHER OF MEANING
Thanks to the precious proposal of mons. Franco Follo, già Osservatore Permanente della Santa Sede presso l’UNESCO
With the patronage of UNESCO in occasione dei 150 anni dalla nascita di Santa Teresa.
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Saint Therese of Lisieux, following a dialogue with Mons. Franco Follo, an event dedicated to her was created.
She died in 1897 at the age of 24, despite not having done academic studies, she left writings that, for the their depth, novelty of thought and worldwide diffusion (his works have been translated into 60 languages) earned her the title of Doctor of the Church.
In 2021, on the proposal of the French government and with the support of Italy and Belgium, the 193 States of UNESCO, voted her among the personalities to be honored in 2023.
It will be an interdisciplinary event, promoting and nurturing the dialogue between faith and culture.
The exhibition was organized by the Association of Friends of Thérèse and the Carmel of Lisieux in collaboration with Father Didier-Marie Golay, Carmelite of Lisieux member of the order of Discalced Carmelites of Paris.
The aim of the exhibition is to bring to everyone the message of love of Teresa of the Child Jesus, love for hers (family, friends), for all the men of her time and for all humanity, because for her in all there is the relationship with the presence of Jesus in which he identifies himself totally.
Several times the Meeting has hosted events dedicated to this great saint and this year it has gladly decided to host this exhibition because we live a historical moment in which man has hunger and thirst for peace, love, and happiness forever, and looking to Santa Teresa is an opportunity to all to see how the Mystery can transform everyday reality making it truly livable because it is all full of the relationship with Him.
