CUM TUCTE. THE ALLIANCE BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE

Organized by Fondazione Lombardia per l’Ambiente (FLA)
In collaboration with Il Sussidiario

Reading the Canticle of the Creatures today opens a path that explores the meaning of “sustainability” starting from the alliance between Man and Nature. Following the footsteps of St. Francis.

Fondazione Lombardia per l’ambiente (FLA) proposes “Tucte”, a journey of knowledge that develops from the Canticle through four thematic spaces:

  • the care of Biodiversity as a relationship and interdependence between various animal and plant species.
  • the paths of water and its correct management, necessary for the different uses that man makes of it, particularly in agriculture and food.
  • the evolution and impacts of Climate change.
  • and finally, Circular Economy applications as possible models for one truly sustainable development.

Four declinations that the Foundation has chosen to look at environmental issues by focusing on the relationship between man and nature, according to the original approach of Integral Ecology proposed today to the world by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’.

From the central space dedicated to the meaning (historical and current) of the Canticle told in video, the visitors approach the four themes thanks to a variety of languages united, among themselves, by the constant reference to the contents of Laudato Si’, modulated in every space.

The variety and richness of Biodiversity appears on a multimedia installation, where (with video and infographics) you can see some emblematic species present in Italy – flanked by the reproduction of a habitat in a diorama set up ad hoc. The course of the water, from the source at the top to the mountains to the sea, flows along a dynamic wall thanks to an interactive projection, illustrating the characteristics of the various steps concerning this precious resource. A series of projections on a globe in section gives the plastic sense of Climate Change, showing the progression of dramatic phenomena such as global warming, together with the positive solutions of other phenomena such as closing the ozone hole. The Circular Economy is finally made present with examples and products of the recovery of materials, to testify to the value of these kinds of “good practices,” as they are implemented by Italian companies and realities. Throughout the path, other video contributions, coming from various scientific sources, deepen the themes faced in the rooms.

To answer the questions, to get into the contents shown, start a relationship with those interested in these themes, the curators and representatives of the Foundation will be present in the encounter space located at the side of the exhibition. A space where, once a day, thematic meetings, artistic events, and dialogues with guests of various kinds will be hosted to delve into and develop the ideas of the exhibition.

During the day, this same space will be dedicated to children’s educational workshops always related to the topics covered by the exhibition.
