Oliva Patrizio

Born in Naples on January 28, 1959, Patrizio Oliva fell in love with boxing gloves for the first time he saw his brother Mario wearing them. He swore to himself that boxing would also be his destiny. Despite the mother’s fears, the unpredictable character of his father – unable to get rid of the ghosts of a violent past – he keeps faith in promise. He begins his career at 11 years old in the Fulgor gym where he learns the rudiments of a hard and honest sport where intelligence is worth more than strength and respect is the first true rule. The memory of his brother Ciro, disappeared prematurely, accompanies in this sweat and struggle. It is also for him that Mr. Oliva fights, improves himself and faces with obstinacy the uncertain fate of the athlete. In 1978 he became a European champion, but the consecration of the boxing world came in 1980 with the gold medal and the Val Barker cup at the Moscow Olympics and finally the world title against Ubaldo Sacco in 1986, still in the heart of fans. From 1996 to 2001 he was National Technical Commissioner and since 2015 he has collaborated with companies Bosch and Randstad as a trainer and motivator in companies and schools.
